Lamp Lighter Inn is located at the S.E. Corner of Ocean Avenue & Camino Real in Carmel, CA 93921

Carmel’s Lamp Lighter Inn is located in the charming village of Carmel-by-the-Sea, located on California’s Central Coast in the Monterey Peninsula.

Heading Southbound from Highway One, turn right on Ocean Avenue; heading Northbound from Highway One, turn left on Ocean Avenue. Continue for 1/2 mile on Ocean View Avenue and Lamp Lighter Inn will be on your left.

Please note that Carmel has no street numbers.

Carmel is an easy drive from the San Francisco Bay, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles areas. We are easily accessed by airports in San Francisco (2.5 hour drive), San Jose (1.5 hour drive) and Monterey (10 minute drive).

“This place!!! Just wonderful. We pitched up to Carmel with no reservation for the night, tried out a few spots which left us cold and very luckily stumbled upon this place. The greeting was so warming, the hotel we checked out beforehand had told us to check their website when we asked what the rooms were like, but instead these guys took us to a room in response. And the room was delightful, cape cod style, with a full working fireplace, which we utilized immediately. A caraf of sherry in our room, happy hour of wine and cheese in the courtyard between 5-6pm and the loveliest hostess (I think Olivia was her name) who engaged us in conversation and introduced us without commitment to other hotel guests. Our night was perfect, there was a storm so we were supplied with flashlights and gas lamps in case of an outage but the fire was enough. So romantic. Oh and breakfast in the same courtyard, a lovely spread. I would go back a million times over and it would never get old. I forgot to mention the resident cat who added a wonderful touch to our night, he hung out with us when we requested which was often. Top marks, with all my travels to several continents, this stay will forever stand out.”
